The Haining Street Apartment development is a 9 story residential apartment building with 78 new units in the centre of Wellington. The development is focused on providing an environmentally friendly, resilient building that enables the community to interact with Wellington city. The development will provide affordable housing for critical workers in a variety of apartment sizes including 1, 2 and 3-bedroom units.
CMP joined the consultant team early on in the design which has resulted in a very efficient design that is quick to build. The design has resulted in a buildable project that minimises the impact of construction on surrounding neighbours which is incredibly important given its location.
The building sits upon CFA piles that were designed to be very efficient after successful pile testing during the design phase. A raft slab binds these together before a steel moment frame rises 9 levels supporting Comflor concrete slabs. A unitised façade wraps the building quickly and eliminates the need for costly scaffolding which is then complimented the warm roof system. Internally modern apartments are fitted out with a focus on cost, energy efficiency and resilience.
This project has been a success to date resulting in a great partnership with our client and the wider consultant team.
