Our people range from qualified and very experienced quantity surveyors and engineers to site managers and specialist project managers. We have a flat management structure that ensures prompt and efficient decision making, and we’re a closely knit team. Our company enjoys a very high staff retention. Some of our staff have been with us for over 15 years.
Ron Macrae leads a full-time team of 50 people based in the company’s Auckland office. He began his career as a design draughtsman and quantity surveyor. He then progressed to project management with Fletcher Construction’s overseas division and established CMP Construction in 1989. Ron's extensive experience in the construction industry has helped to shape his philosophies for the governance of CMP. He holds three principles close in all aspects of managing the business:
- Growth for growth’s sake is dangerous in this business.
- Delivering high-quality projects has to be a top priority.
- Planning time is never wasted.
WE DELIVER A PROFESSIONAL APPROACH THAT ENCOURAGES PARTNERSHIP AND INNOVATION. Our culture of ongoing improvement is reflected in our advanced systems and operations.
Andrew brings to CMP Construction over 30 years of experience in the construction industry sector after beginning his career as a quantity surveyor in the 1980s. Prior to joining CMP, Andrew excelled in commercial management of large-scale projects with Hawkins Construction and Mainzeal Construction. He also directed his own company, Vision Interiors, which was recognised in the Deloitte’s Fast 50 awards in 2007 and 2011. It's Andrew's responsibility to ensure that CMP Construction has robust contracts and that solid relationships are nurtured and maintained with CMP’s consultants, developers, banks, staff, sub-contractors and suppliers. He is the driving force behind CMP projects achieving a successful completion.
Tony has been with CMP from 2003, and offers 40+ years' experience working in diverse areas of the construction industry. He spent many years working overseas, which gave him the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and experience not readily available in New Zealand, from hydro-electric tunnel constructions in Papua New Guinea, to historic building restoration in London. In New Zealand he has completed contracts in all areas of commercial and residential construction, including multi-storey apartments, multi-million dollar homes and leaky building remediation. He received a NZ Institute of Building Excellence in the building professions award in the $10-$25 million category in 2014 and was also a finalist in these awards for his management of the refurbishment of Victoria Park Market, Auckland.
CMP Construction’s 30-year proven track record means we attract quality people who want to work with us because they know we have high standards and work on great projects. We foster a strong sense of commitment to our projects. At CMP we believe that achieving work-life balance matters and therefore we ensure that our projects are not under-resourced and our staff are not overworked.
We’re very hands on. We function best when we can easily access each other and our clients. We treat everyone we meet with respect, fairness and consideration. We aim to cultivate a transparent, responsive work environment in which knowledge and expertise
is willingly shared. We encourage our people to be friendly, helpful and collaborative. We foster clear and effective communication.
We stand by what we do – with every building, every time, completing our projects the way we promised we would. On time, within budget. Buildings that people will appreciate and enjoy living and working in. Buildings that we'd be really proud to live or work in ourselves. In fact we manage the building of them as if they were our own. We don't cut corners and neither do our subcontractors.
